I had no idea
January 2005

I HAD NO IDEA One day while my good friend Todd Bailey and I were talking on the phone he asked if I knew someone who would help him move his mother. I told him I would help him (isn't that what friends should do?). His mother had everything packed and ready to load into a 25 foot moving truck. We found she had many things to load. As we were loading I was thinking about what to write for the first article of 2005. Todd kept saying "I had no idea". What he was saying was that he had no idea she had so much stuff. Did you know that we as Christians also have so much stuff? 2 Corinthians 1: 20 says, "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. We as Christians have so many promises from God and it is our job to find them so we know what we have. The problem with many Christians that I meet around the world traveling is they have no idea what they have as a Christian or a child of God. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge”. Did you notice that Hosea says my people? He is talking to children of God. Isaiah 5:13 says, “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge”. How do we get this knowledge to be able to use it for our benefit? We must spend time with our Savior in prayer and in the best book in the world “THE BIBLE”. Many times we just take someone’s word for what they believe or what a denomination says is true and we believe it. 1Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. How are we going to know if we don’t spend time each day with Jesus and read His inspired word? It will change you into the person He wants you to be. We find out that we have favor with Jesus and that He will forgive us from our sins and heal us of our diseases. I like Hebrews 4:12 in the New Living Translation which says, “For the word of God is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. It exposes us for what we really are”. It also shows us what we have, what we can do for God and all the benefits we have as a child of God. There is a story is Luke 10 about Martha and Mary. These 2 ladies had Jesus come to their house for dinner. Mary was sitting at Jesus feet while Martha was concerned with serving and wanted Jesus to tell Mary to help her. Many times we are concerned with things that don’t really matter. We really don’t have any idea. Jesus taught that our highest priority must be our relationship with Him. If anything detracts us from that relationship, that activity is not from God. We are waiting for God to give us a word from someone, or for someone to have a dream or vision so we can follow them, or we say we are just waiting to be led by the spirit of God. Many times we blame things on the spirit when it was not the spirit at all, it was self. Remember that success is a journey not a destination and attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. Some people dream of worthy ideals and accomplishments while others do what it takes to do them. Let’s have an idea! Get into the word of God and find what we have and what we can do because there is victorious living in our future. Evangelist Kenny Large
