Life's Purpose
March 2003

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish (KJV) In our last newsletter I told you the theme for us and our ministry this year is purpose. I want to stay with this thought again. Isaiah 43:7 says, “Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” (NKJ) As I have studied this theme for myself this year, I have found several things I want to share with you. 1)-We are made for the service of God; Joshua 24:15 2)-We must seek God’s kingdom; Matthew 6:33 3)-We must do the Father’s will or purpose for our life; John 4:34 4)- We must finish the divine task that God asked us to do; John 17:4 5)- We need to complete the course joyfully; Acts 20:24 6)- We need to attain Christlikeness; Philippians 3:13-14.

Many times the world is operating on just vision, but God‘s people live by revelation. The world seeks great and titled purposes and goals to achieve. Many people dream up the greatest and most satisfying things, which they can invest their lives in. The world establishes goals and objectives then organizes themselves to achieve them with their own ability. However, God’s people function in a different manner. Christians arrange their lives based on the revelation of God through His word & prayer. Then true Christians are obedient and carry out what the Lord has spoken to them. Many times the things God asks us as Christians to do is foolish in the world’s eyes, but as a Christian we know we have heard from God.

God doesn’t ask for our opinion’s about what is best for our future, our family, our Church. He already knows! What God wants is to get the attention of Christians and reveal to us what is on His heart and what His will is for our lives; so we can complete the call He has for each of us. Whenever Christians do not base their lives on God’s revelation through His word and prayer; they start to do things in their own ways and whatever is right in their own eyes.

They set their own goals, arrange their own agendas, and then pray for God’s blessings. Some Christians are living far outside the will of God; yet they have the audacity to pray and ask God to bless their efforts. The only way for us to know God’s will or purpose is for God to reveal it to us. We will never discover it on our own. When we hear from God we should have an immediate response for that revelation for our life; obedience. Obedience should be a lifestyle. Just like the writer of Proverbs tells us; happy is he who keeps the law or will and purpose of God. Isaiah 55:8-9 8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. God knows what is best for us and the job that we are able to carry out for Him; for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. So obey Him and His word and the things He reveals to you through the Holy Spirit. As we do that and be obedient and willing we will then eat the good of the land. Isaiah 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: We must have that holy union from God which is the word and the Holy Spirit. Let’s all fulfill our purpose and God given goals and dreams! I believe in dreaming & believing big for God, but let’s make sure we are not copying someone else’s ideal. Remember we are each an original don’t die a copy!
