WHO'S TO BLAME? September 2002
WHO'S TO BLAME'
Ephesians 1:4(KJV)
"Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,"
As I sit down today to write this article, on my birthday, August 14th, I have taken a look back at my life for the last 38 years. I see there have been times in my life where I have made some mistakes. I have made some wrong choices. Jesus has forgiven me of these things and I have learned from my mistakes and wrong choices. But there have also been times when I have made the right choice. The best of all was September 22, 1985, when Jesus became my Savior, Master and Lord of my life.
Today society wants to blame others for the choices they have made. The word blame is defined as, to find fault with, condemned, rebuke, to hold responsible, fault, error, reproof. We blame our fathers and mothers for the way we were raised. We blame our school teachers, we blame our friends, and we blame our bosses at work. But it is time we take responsibility for our own choices that we make in life. We even blame God, many times, for the things that happen to us. I believe in an abundant life in Jesus. (John 10:10)
Jesus said that he came so that we might have life, and that we might have it more abundantly. We are all ordained to be chosen by God. He has chosen each of us. John 15:16(NLT) says, "you didn't choose me. I choose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last, so that the father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name."
Jesus has chosen each of us. The Bible teaches us that we were made to praise Him. It also tells us that each of us are wonderfully and fearfully made. (Psalm 139:14) God has placed a special call on everyone's life. We are all anointed to do something for God. But because sometimes we are not men, women, boys, and girls of honesty, integrity, and influence, we fall short. When we make a mistake we try to blame others instead of taking the responsibility ourselves for the choices we have made, either right or wrong. We try to blame the enemy or devil for the sins we have committed. I just had lunch with a friend of mine, Pastor David Webb, and he shared with me that people need to start calling sin what it is, SIN!!! Admit what we have done and call it for what it is, so we can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Then we can move on in the abundant life Jesus has for us. Take a close look at your life and examine the choices you make each day. Satan wants us to live a sinful life. But Jesus came to forgive us and save us from our sins, habits, mistakes, wrong choices and wrong thinking.
The last few services I have been preaching on success, leaving the past behind, relationships, being mission driven, and reaffirming our love for God.
I want to encourage each of you to reaffirm your love for God, then he will help you to do the right things and make the right choices. We should quit blaming others for our own mistakes, actions, and things we say. We even read in the scriptures how the people in the wilderness blamed God, Moses and other leaders. But they were people of doubt, unbelief, bitterness, anger, resentment and blamed others instead of taking a close look at their own life and asking God to forgive them and CHANGE. We must receive this statement, "God is greater than any bondage we may have, and He promises to help us succeed, not with our own power, but by asking for His." He is so faithful. When we ask Him for help, He promises never to fail us or leave us struggling all alone. Jesus says in Hebrews 13:5, "I will never leave you or forsake you." I challenge you today to ask God to help you with any problem, situation or circumstance you might have. He will help you to change and stop placing blame on others. Have a backbone, admit your weaknesses. Then you will reach your promise land and potential for God.
Evangelist,
