2TIMOTHY l: 6-7 SAY'S "Wherefore I put thee in rememberance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

God is trying to get Christians to be stirred up again with the gifts He has given us. I am glad for all the past revivals and crusades but I want to feel that same power and anointing now in 2002. Isaiah 42:9 say's, "Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them." To get the whole text of this scripture we need to study Isaiah chapters 40-44. All of the things in the past are good to look back on and see what all God did back then, but we are living in the present. I believe God wants to do a new thing. Isaiah 43:18-21 say's, "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and the rivers in the desert. The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise." Some Christians haven't experienced the Holy Ghost and the power because they are not pursuing Him like they should. We have prayer time when there is very little praying. We have study time when there is very little studying. The devil will and I believe he is doing this to many Christians. He is robbing our time and putting fear on us. One thing I have learned as a Christian is that if the devil can't keep us from being saved, he will try to rob us of our promises, benefits, and blessings. Then the devil will try to confuse us.

Sometimes while we are traveling we get lost or take the wrong exit. Some of the maps or trip tickets we get are confusing. So we have to get the road atlas out, along with all the other information to try to find the right direction. We as Christians need to do the same thing. When the devil tries to put fear on us, rob us or confuse us, we must get out our road map. The Bible, and let him know where we stand. We must dare to take God at His word. Act upon it!! That's the kind of faith that pleases God. When we don't understand or get confused, we give up. Instead we need to pursue Jesus more. First, pray and ask for wisdom and knowledge. Then pursue the correct answer or the right way. Many Christians don't receive from God because they don't take God at his word. God is faithful, trustworthy and dependable to His Word. We need to say, "Lord at Your Word I will obey, without exception, everytime Jesus." Everytime we believe and act upon His Word the results will be a need met or a miracle in our life.

At the end of 2001 I began to seek the Lord for a theme for 2002. I know I heard from God and this is what He told me. We as Christians need to get out of our boat (Matthew 14:25-33). Like Peter, when he asked Jesus if he could come to Him and He walked on the water until he took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink. But, when he did begin to sink, Jesus reached down and pulled Peter up. He will do the same for us. Failure does not mean we are finished. NEXT, WE NEED TO PURSUE JESUS. To pursue means to follow close upon, to strive to attain or accomplish a goal or purpose, to practice a past time one regularly engages in. Let's pursue Jesus this year, get out of our boat, (circumstance, situation, problem or trouble). We need will power. All these things will happen as we pursue Jesus. We must deal with our sins or we will never escape its grasp and allow God, through the Holy Spirit, to set us free. Take God at His Word, believe Him and receive what we need from Him. Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee (James 4:7). Don't let the devil put fear upon us, confuse us or put condemnation upon us because of our past. Jesus has paid the price for our forgivemess with His very own blood. It covers all our sins. Pursue Jesus today and He will do a new thing for us this year. The Lord spoke 3 things that will happen as we pursue Him, 1) Returning, 2) Renewal, 3) Restoration. I want all that God has for me. What about you?
